Welcome back to Signals, a podcast produced by the staff of Playback. We chatted with U.W. Madison’s own Dr. Lori Lopez about her recent keynote at the Fan Studies North America conference, held at DePaul University in Chicago between October 24th and 26th, 2019. Dr. Lopez’s talk, entitled “Crazy Rich and Other Asian American Fandoms,” explored the increasing visibility of Asian-American media audiences as well as the discourses developing within and around them. We’re happy to spotlight Dr. Lopez’s research as well as hear a bit about her larger methodologies and experience at the conference!

Thanks to Olivia Riley for help with production and editing.
